Creche 18 months - 3 years
Little Penguins
Montessori Crèche is a lovely four bedroom house in a quiet location
just five minutes drive from CHMS, BVI campus. The house is bright and
airy, set in an almost flat lawned, fenced in garden. Its high location
offers spectacular views and breezes.
The Crèche provides
separate napping areas with low sleeping cots. The bedrooms have low
lighting with one cot for each child, a dining, working, playing and
reading area. The huge porch provides space for the romper room for
tricycles and push toys. There is a dedicated art room for arts and
crafts.
The main room is home
to low open shelves containing practical life activities along with
puzzles, stacking toys, threading etc. All the materials are made of
the highest quality and made of wood in preference to plastic. The
children learn to look after themselves via practical life activities
which is the core of the Montessori system.
Outside you will find
a large covered area with a sand pit and gardening area along with a
climbing frame, swings, low balance beam, stepping stones and wooden
play house. The Crèche allows the children to learn to help prepare
their own lunches and snacks. The children are cared for by three
caring, patient, and loving staff who are all first aid certified.
Children’s
House (Casa): 3-6 years
Our Century
House Montessori School BVI Casa classes offer a three-year programme.
A child normally enters at 3 years of age and remains for the full 3
years, after which the child may move into the Elementary Programme
if they meet the criteria for the move. We move a child based on academic
abilities and social skills and not just based on chronological age.
Elementary
Programme: 6-12 years
Our Elementary
Programme is a six-year programme. A child who has attended the Casa
usually enters at age 6. An effort is made to allow for transfers into
the programme from other Montessori Schools. Children without previous
Montessori experience or exposure may be considered depending on individual
circumstances. However, we cannot accept a child into our Elementary
Programme who has obtained no or intermittent Montessori Education in
the past.
Application
should be made as early as possible. An interview and a series of observation
in the classroom are required before acceptance is granted. Century
House Montessori School BVI admits students of any race, colour, and
national or ethnic origin.
Parents
are a vital part of our programme and are encouraged to involve themselves
in parent education; the various committees or other areas where volunteer
assistance helps to keep the costs as low as possible.
