The Inspiration behind CHMS

As described by CHMS Founder and Principal,
Mrs. Patricia Morgan
1962-2012

CHMS BVI was founded in 1998 by Mrs. Patricia Morgan for her daughter, Brittany Wallis Morgan.  The school was in a rented room at the Old Colonial Manor at Paraquita Bay.

In 1999 the school moved to Mary Star of the Sea.  The Priest, Father Peter allowed Mrs. Morgan to use the back porches and an indoor area.  By then there were six children and the BVI community was beginning to hear about the school, parents were stopping in to learn about this interesting new Montessori School.  The church property was getting to be too small.  With the help of a parent that wanted his children to attend, Mrs. Morgan found a beautiful piece of land at Diamond Estate.  They persuaded the land owner, Mr. Alvin Christopher to let her create, with the skills of builder George Turnbull, a magnificent Montessori School.

CHMS began to fully operate in its new location in September 2000.  Mrs. Morgan had the school celebrate every September with a "Field of Dreams" party.

In the summer of 2012, our school suffered the incredible loss of our founder, Mrs. Patricia Morgan.  Kenneth Morgan asked Ms. Danielle O'Doherty to step into the role of Principal and continue Mrs. Morgan's dream of quality Montessori education in the beautiful British Virgin Islands.

In 2007 we began our Creche.  The children begin at age 18 months and remain until 3 when they make the transition into our Casa programme.  Our school continues to grow and we are very proud to presently have a strong Lower and Upper Elementary programme.
